Baked Pizza Pita Sandwich
Everyone loves pizza! Pizza in a pita is a perfect afternoon lunch with less fat than normal pizza in a convenient easy-to-eat pita sandwich!

Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 15 ounces can tomato or pizza sauce
- 1 teaspoon oregano leaves
- 1 package whole wheat pitas
- 8 ounces part skim cheese
- 2 ounces mushrooms
- 1/4 cup low fat Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cook and stir the meat in a large skillet until brown. Drain off the excess fat.
- Stir in half of the tomato sauce and the oregano leaves into the meat mixture. Heat to boiling then reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
- While the meat mixture is simmering, place pitas in a greased pan.
- Spoon remaining tomato sauce onto each pita.
- Layer 2 slices of the cheese, the meat mixture and mushrooms on top of the tomato sauce.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese and bake, uncovered, until it is golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes.
- Cool for 5 minutes. Fold in half like a taco or cut into slices before serving.
