Christmas Eve Baked French Toast
On Christmas eve, do all of the prep work needed for this Christmas Eve Baked French Toast recipe. On Christmas morning, simply unwrap this baked French toast and place in the oven. This is definitely one of the best casserole recipes for breakfast.

Ingredients
- 1 large loaf of whole grain bread
- 8 eggs, or equivalent egg substitute
- 3 cup skim milk
- 4 tablespoon sugar, or equivalent sugar substitute suitable for baking
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoon butter, or butter substitute suitable for baking
Instructions
- Cut the whole grain loaf into slices about 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick and put in a greased 9x13x2-inch baking pan.
- Mix together the eggs, skim milk, sugar and vanilla. Pour the mixture over the bread.
- Cut cold butter into pieces and place on top of bread. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, remove the foil and bake in preheated 350 degree F oven for about 50 minutes. Serve with warm maple syrup if desired.
