Ingredients
- 5 pound stewing chicken, cut up with excess skin and fat removed
- 1 1/2 pound extra lean beef stew meat
- 1/4 pound extra lean pork, cubed
- 1/2 pound dried Navy beans, soaked overnight
- 1/2 pound split green peas
- 2 cup canned whole tomatoes
- 4 cup carrots, diced
- 2 1/2 cup onions, diced
- 3 cup celery, diced
- 1/2 lemon, peeled and cut into pieces
- 8 cup potatoes, diced
- 4 cup cabbage, shredded
- 4 tablespoon butter substitute
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Put cut-up chicken, beef and pork in a large pot. Cover with cold water. Slowly bring to a boil. Skim, then simmer one hour.
- Add drained Navy beans, green peas, tomatoes, carrots, onions, celery and lemon. Cook about three hours.
- Add potatoes, cabbage, butter, salt and pepper. Simmer 30 minutes.
