Ingredients

  • 1 pound split peas
  • 2 lean ham hocks
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 2 quart water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, put in the split peas, ham hocks, carrot, onion, water, salt and pepper.
     
  2. Cover the slow cooker and cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours.
     
  3. Remove ham bone. Cut meat off, dice,and return the ham to soup.
