Homemade Fruit Leather
Fun healthy kids snacks that taste great are hard to find in the supermarket. Good thing this recipe for Homemade Fruit Leather allows to make a delicious kid-friendly snack without spending a bundle!
Notes
Instead of pears, you can use apples, prunes, dried apricots or berries, if desired.
Ingredients
- 3 cup pears, sliced
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- Juice of 1/2 Lemon
Instructions
- Cook the pears in enough water to cover, until very soft. Drain.
- Mix in salt, cinnamon and lemon juice. Puree in food processor fitted with steel blade, or in blender.
- Spread no more than 1/4-inch thick on a very well-greased cookie sheet with edges (grease the edges too.)
- Leave in the oven set on the lowest temp (or just the pilot light in gas ovens) for at least 6 hours or overnight.
- Cut into 3x4-inch pieces and roll up in pieces of wax paper. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator or freezer until needed.
