Meatless Barbecue Sandwiches
This healthy and quick recipe has far less cholesterol, calories and fat than traditional barbecue sandwiches because it is meatless. Enjoy a healthier take on barbecue with this easy quick and simple recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cup textured vegetable protein
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 medium onion, chopped fine
- 1 or 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Vegetable broth
- Barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Mix the TVP with the 1/2 cup water and set aside for 5 minutes.
- Saute onion in about 1 tablespoon of vegetable broth until almost clear. Then add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the reconstituted TVP. Add the barbecue sauce until the mixture is the right consistency for sandwiches.
- Heat thoroughly and serve.
