Slow Cooker Apple Pie Oatmeal
On a chilly morning, it's nice to start your day off right with a warm, hearty breakfast. Slow Cooker Apple Pie Oatmeal is perfect for that sort of occasion. This healthy oatmeal recipe combines steel cut oats, apples, brown sugar and cinnamon to create the same sweet, heavenly taste as apple pie without the calories. You can also add raisins and walnuts to give it some extra crunch, and drizzle on some caramel syrup to enhance the sweetness. If you've complained about oatmeal being too "boring" in the past, then you'll be pleasantly surprised by this meal.

I recently bought steel cut oats and have been using the stove top method to prepare them. After following instructions and cooking the oats for about 30 minutes, we still find them tough and chewy. The slow cooker method may be our solution. All the ingredients sound yummy. For a tropical twist, I like to add fresh chopped mango to my porridge.
