Healthier Green Bean Celery Casserole
Believe it or not, you can make a healthier green bean casserole. By using fat-free soup, skim milk, and half the usual fried onions, you can still have all the flavor - and a lot less fat. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 3 9-ounce packages frozen French-style green beans
- 1 1/2 cup water
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 5-ounce can sliced water chestnuts, drained
- 2 cans fat-free cream of celery soup
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup skim milk
- 1 can French fried onions rings
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Combine water, beans and salt and bring to a quick boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer until beans have thawed and are slightly crisp, about 4 minutes.
- Drain beans.
- In a 2-quart casserole dish, layer the beans and chestnuts.
- In a medium sized bowl, mix the milk and soup; add the pepper.
- Pour the milk mixture over the beans and water chestnuts.
- Bake at 350F degrees for 25 minutes.
- Remove from oven and top with the onion rings.
- Bake an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the onion rings are golden brown.

Mommae22 this is the best low-fat green bean casserole that i have ever tasted yet. I have been thirthing for a lower fat version for a green bean casserole now my thrist is over. My complements to the chef.
