Ingredients
- 10 slices day old wheat bread
- 1/2 cup reduced fat cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 2/3 cups skim milk
- 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
- 6-7 eggs, or equivalent egg substitute
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter substitute, melted
- 1/2 cup almonds, slivered
Instructions
- De-crust and cube bread. Alternate layers of cheese and bread in 2 qt. baking dish. Beat next 5 ingredients and pour over bread.
- Pour melted butter substitute over top. Chill overnight. Before baking, sprinkle with almonds. Bake at 350 degrees F about 1 hour, making sure eggs are set.
