Notes
Any selection of grains will work for this recipe, so long as you keep the ratio 3 cups water for every 1 cup of grains. Other grains you can use in this dish include bulgur, barley, millet and corn meal.
Cooking MethodSlow Cooker
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup brown rice
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 4 1/2 ounces dried mixed fruit, chopped
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 cups water
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Combine brown rice, oats, dried fruit and cinnamon in your slow cooker and mix well. Then, stir in water and vanilla.
- Cover and cook for 6 to 8 hours on a low setting. Stir before serving and add more water if desired.
- Serve hot, topped with brown sugar or drizzled with maple syrup if desired.
