I'm so bad at coming up with something to bring for potlucks and always revert to a simple veggie tray or chips and dips - this should help!!

I love potlucks. My community has them on a regular basis. My favorite thing to bring is Angel food cake. I bring lots of different things, but the cake is a staple that always goes over well.

When my oldest was in 7th grade, he asked me if I could bring deviled eggs to his potluck. Ever since, I am known as the deviled egg mom and get asked to bring them to all school potlucks. My oldest is now in high school and it has followed to that school too!

it depends on the time of year and the occasion. In the summer for a barbecue, I'll make either a wilted cucumber salad or a black bean-jicama salad. In cooler months, I'll make cider-spiced oven sweet potato fries, or a squash and tomato tian. (Thank you South Beach Diet!)

I've always called them potlucks! I typically try to bring a "secretly healthy" dessert. Once I brought a deep dish cookie pie that was still warm from the oven and actually contained garbanzo beans. It was a huge hit and no one knew it was healthy-ish!

It's usually something I'm sure people will eat so there isn't a ton of it left over to bring home...like cookies. And I don't mind having them around if there are a bunch.

I guess it would depend on whether I am asked to bring a main/side dish or a dessert. For a main dish I would probably do a pasta salad and for dessert it would be an clair cake.

I like to ask the host to let me know what will help "round things out." I love to bring something light, like tabbouleh with pita, or sliced fruit. Or fun drinks like sangria or root beer floats are also a favorite!

I am all about different kinds of dips people bring to potlucks! My favorite (and the one I will usually bring) is just cream cheese beanless chilli and some shredded 4-cheese on top. Pop it in the microwave for a couple of minutes and YUM

Potlucks are normally filled with dense, cheesy, creamy dishes - because uh YUM. But, I like to lighten things up a little bit with a black bean and corn salad. Or another classic is a slow cooker buffalo chicken dip (that actually isn't too bad for you!). Potlucks are so fun, I love seeing everyone's personality come through their dishes!

I haven't been to a potluck in years, but I anytime I go to one, I usually make my way to the dessert end of the table where there are almost always brownies of some sort. I find there are often a lot of potato and other deli salads present and things made with cream for some reason... and I am lactose intolerant, so it's rough out there for me.

When I was growing up, we never called our potlucks "potlucks." Everyone was just told to "bring a dish to pass." My favorite potluck dish is a recipe my mom just calls Good Beans - it's made with green beans, baked beans, butter beans, bacon, and onions. It's amazing!

I used to go to a lot of potlucks. Like every week. I even went to a potluck wedding once. It was awesome. My favorite dish to bring is a pasta casserole of some sort. Though there was some guy who would always just bring a canister of Pringles. Go figure.

YES! There's always someone who doesn't understand the rules of a potluck. You shouldn't bring a bag of chips unless it's a football party or the host asks you to bring chips.

I AM A DIABETIC AND OVERWEIGHT, IT IS SO HARD TO FIND LOW CARB, LOW SUGAR RECIPES THAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY EAT! THERE SEEMS TO BE A BUCH OF THEM HERE THAT I MIGHT EVEN ENJOY, AND WHO KNOWS, IF I DON'T TELL ANYONE THAT THEY ARE "DIET RECIPES" I CAN GET THE REST OF MY FAMILY TO TRY THEM TOO!
