This book reveals that a plant-based diet, or what this book considers to be an Eastern diet, leads to optimal health with the power to halt or reverse many diseases like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. The China Study Cookbook features delicious, easily prepared plant-based recipes with no added fat and minimal sugar and salt that promote optimal health. The author also offers helpful tips on substitutions and transitioning to a plant-based diet to help you and your family make an easier transition from eating meat to not.
After learning of this book's claims, I had to say I was intrigued. As the self-proclaimed home cook of a meat-eating family, I generally don't bother looking for recipes that don't include some form of chicken, beef, or seafood. But, this book got me excited about trying something new. With over 120 recipes to try — recipes that hot tons of interesting spice blends, real desserts, and portions that would still fill everyone's bellies, there was no reason not to try these recipes. If not just for health reasons, but also for a sense of variety.
I have to say ... I absolutely loved Leanne's Breakfast Home-Fry Hash, Fabulous Sweet Potato Enchiladas, and her No-Bake Peanut Butter Bars. I have to give this woman an A+ on creating recipes that are healthy, and don't sacrifice flavor. I'll be returning to this book for more recipes throughout the year. Bravo, Leanne.
