Anolon Universal Steamer Review

I'm not new to cooking, but I am new to using really nice cookware; there's something about it that makes you feel like you're a professional chef. And because I'm new to nice cookware I am embarrassed to say that I have never used a steamer until now. Where has this been all my life? The Universal Steamer Insert from Anolon will easily be my go-to item whenever I need to steam or boil something for a recipe.


To state the obvious, it steams and warms food. All you have to do is place the food in the steamer above boiling water and voila. This specific 8-inch steamer was designed to fit a 2 quart, a 3 quart, and a 4 quart tulip and straight-sided Anolon pot. However, I just used any old pot that I had in my kitchen and it worked just fine. I think the pot I chose was too big because I had to fill it with more water, but if you choose the correct size then you shouldn't have any issues.


The durable stainless steel construction delivers strength and durability and best of all, it's dishwasher safe. I've always steamed food in a pot and then poured the food into a strainer, but this steamer is so much easier. All you have to do is lift the steamer out of the pot and you're good to go. I boiled potatoes and steamed vegetables, but I bet you can even make pasta and then put the pasta directly on a plate once you take the steamer out. This is definitely a time saver and allows you to use fewer gadgets in the kitchen.


If you're considering buying a new pot, then get the Steamer Insert, instead. I'm telling you, this will become your new favorite after just one use.
