Healthier Turkey Sloppy Joes

Made with turkey rather than ground beef, these sloppy joes are lower in fat but just as flavorful. Add finely chopped vegetables to the mixture for more benefits.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup peppers (diced)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white onion (diced)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Heat skillet over moderate heat. Add turkey, cook 7-9 minutes stirring and breaking up lumps.
     
  2. Add remaining ingredients. Salt and pepper to taste.
     
  3. Simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve on favorite rolls
