Cooking MethodCasserole
Ingredients
- 4 cans pinto beans, including the liquid
- 3 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar or sugar substitute
- 1 tablespoon chilli powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon red pepper
Instructions
- Whisk spices together until well combined.
- Place 2 heaping tablespoons of the spice mixture in a cast iron pot or casserole dish with the beans (a casserole dish will get black from the smoke, so use an old one).
- Place the uncovered pot way in the back of your pit and allow to smoke for 2 to 3 hours. Smoke longer for a stronger flavor.
- Take the pot off the pit and stir well.
- Place a lid on the pot and keep warm in a oven or sit the pot on the cover of your pit to keep warm until ready to serve.

@wadeckiburn 9560778 - I'd imagine that cooking this recipe on a stovetop and then reheating at a campsite would give you similar results. -The Editors of FaveHealthyRecipes

this sounds like a good recipe and I would love to try it, just one question, can you make this on the stove top and then take it with you to reheat at the campsite?
