I love the intense fresh flavor that basil gives to a dish - I have a little indoor herb garden that I fashioned out of an old fish aquarium with a lighted lid. Even though I live in Michigan, I can use it year round! The jarred sauces that are basil flavored just aren't the same. The basil turns into tiny black flecks and it just doesn't have that sweetness.
