Oats and Banana Smoothie
"Oats, banana, almond milk, chia and agave smoothie. Briefly – the epitome of what I usually sneer at. Vegan. Gluten free. Dairy free. A smoothie. I imagined I’d make it, taste it, run in the general direction of the sink spluttering and retching, attempt to obliterate the aftertaste with an enormous cream cake and report the horrific adventure of my taste buds on the blog. And I would have, if not for one small unforeseen detail. It was delicious."

This smoothie recipe is a great way to get an extra serving of heart health whole grains into your diet. I don't have any agave syrup on hand, so I might try making these with honey as a sweetener. A couple tablespoons of natural peanut butter might be good in these for a little bit of extra protein and a little bit of a different taste.

I really need to get back into the smoothie groove now that the weather is warming up. My poor smoothie maker must feel so lonely!
