This sounds so delicious! I can't believe it only takes 2 ingredients to make this. I wonder what the texture is like.

This recipe looks interesting. It may be convenient to store these ingredients in your pantry for unexpected company as it looks as if it is easy to assemble when pressed for time. The addition of nuts, especially pecans makes almost every cake taste better.

I have also made this (it's good) but must bake at least 30 minutes not 20. Then test in the middle to see if it is done.

Try mixing a can of unsweetened crushed pineapple (12 oz) instead. It is fantastic!

I didn't have apple pie filling, but I did have cherry pie filling. I also had the kind of boxed angel food cake mix that only required water. It made a lovely pink-colored cake. It was an okay cake, I think I will add pecans the next time I make it, if I make it. I am the only one that's tried it so far. Family opinion counts for a lot more than mine. I can also see using coconut shreds and some pineapple chunks in this.

I tried this recipe and it came out tooo sweet. I threw it out. I'm not sure if I misunderstood the instructions. The instructions say to mix the pie filling with DRY cake mix (which means to me NO WATER). I'm not sure if I was supposed to add water (like the box instructions says to do) OR if the pie filling (12-oz) was not large enough. Where did I go wrong?

I made two of these over the week end of Aug 12. Baked one for 35 minutes it was too long and I burned the edges. Then I made another one-I added about 1/8 cup of apple juice which I used to get all of the good stuff off the sides the can, I cooked for 30 minutes. This one turned out great according to the people in my office. I will be doing this again with a different flavored pie filling. I will rate the second one 5 stars.
